New Spider-Man 3 Pics Spark Andrew Garfield No Way Home Rumors (Again)

Details spotted in a recently shared production still from Spider-Man: No Way Home is fueling more rumors surrounding actor Andrew Garfield bringing his version of the wall-crawler to the upcoming film.

Spotted by Twitter user @HypefiloPod, an image from the production of No Way Home contains potential evidence of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man standing in the same setting that served as the Parker family’s basement in The Amazing Spider-Man. The poster made side-by-side comparisons, highlighting where an overhead pipe and staircase are similarly located in both films as well as what appears to be Peter’s workbench off to the side. There are also similarities in the ceiling lined with wood beams, though none of the details seem particularly conclusive.

Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s latest trailer teased the return of Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, leading fans to speculate on whether any characters from The Amazing Spider-Man movies will also be making appearances. Garfield denied rumors of his involvement back in May of this year before doubling down during an interview last month where the actor said, “It’s important for me to say on the record that this is not something I’m aware I am involved in. But I know I’m not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don’t know what’s happening. No matter what I say, I’m fucked. It’s either going to be really disappointing for people or it’s going to be really exciting.”

Rumors of Garfield’s web-slinger showing up in No Way Home have persisted over the course of the year, as one theory even suggests Garfield’s Spider-Man being a villain. Yet, with director Tom Watts having called the return of Rhys Ifans’ The Lizard only a rumor, Jamie Foxx’s Electro is so far the only confirmed character returning from either of the two Amazing Spider-Man films. Recent comments from Holland about one of No Way Home‘s “coolest scenes” including an unrevealed character, however, could possibly hint at an appearance from Garfield or Tobey Maguire’s version of the iconic superhero.

No Way Home follows Peter Parker/Spider-Man confronting various incarnations of iconic Spider-Man villains after a spell from Doctor Strange causes a disruption in the multiverse. The film will cap off what Holland calls the “Homecoming trilogy,” with Watts describing it as Spider-Man: Endgame.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
